Send Sms free - MTN Collect Sms

MTN subscribers can now send messages to other MTN numbers for free while the receiver pays for the message. This service is called MTN Collect SMS.

MTN Collect SMS is a service where subscriber "A" can send a message without cost to subscriber "B" if subscriber "B" accepts to pay for the message. Subscriber "B" has the option to either decline or accept to pay for the message.

In the case where subscriber "B" declines to pay, subscriber "A" gets a receives a message saying B has declined paying.

Benefits Of MTN Collect SMS

·         This service will enable customers who lack the available airtime, or do not want to pay for a particular text message, to send SMS to another MTN customer free of charge provided the recipient of that SMS accepts to pay for the inbound messages.

·      The service affords an MTN customer (the recipient) to bear the cost of an incoming text message call from another MTN customer.

·      Customers can communicate anywhere and anytime even if they have no airtime to communicate.

Limitations Of MTN Collect SMS

·         One cannot send a message with more than 160 characters.

·         Roaming sponsors and beneficiaries are excluded from this service.

·         Unread/unaccepted collect SMS expires after 24hours from the time it was initiated.

·         The service works only for MTN subscribers.

When the recipient has low credit, s/he gets the following message

"Y'ello. Sorry, your credit is too low to accept this Collect SMS. Please load airtime and try again, thank you"!

To use this service simply send your SMS to 38701 followed by the receivers phone number e.g 38701080312348678

NOTE: This service is only available for MTN to MTN customers.
